Discover the Best Yoga in Venice, FL

Yoga is one of the most widely recognized practices for health and wellness. Traditionally, when people think of yoga, they picture Asana Yoga, where people bend, flex, and stretch into different designated positions. At Self-Care Center, our primary intention for yogic practices is deep personal transformation.

We practice and offer Yoga Nidra, not only is it a relaxing meditation it is also one with no movement or physical exertion so any can practice it. It is both a respite from the stressors of everyday life and a tool used to unpack and overcome persistent mental, emotional, or spiritual problems.

You’ll be guided through an empowering experience that can help you address deep inner needs, overcome fears, and undeniably cultivate more mental resilience.

Yoga Nidra is the science of deep relaxation. Yoga means “union.” Nidra means “sleep.” Yoga Nidra is a state between sleep and deep relaxation.

When deep healing and relaxation are needed, and you would like to be guided there, Yoga Nidra is a beautiful practice to explore. It allows you to journey beyond your physical experience to cultivate a deeper connection and awareness of Self.

It is a systematic method of inducing deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. There is no movement. The practice is done while lying down on one’s back or side. The eyes are closed, and the body is made completely comfortable. It involves deep relaxation with inner awareness while Heather leads a guided “meditation” session. She uses auto-suggestion cues, visualization, and affirmation to create an environment in which healing can occur.

A few of the benefits now being confirmed by the medical field are increased immune function, digestive function, and better sleep. The gifts of Yoga Nidra are the release of old habits, fatigue, worry, and stress.

Yoga Nidra can be practiced by anyone of any size or shape. This is not a physical exercise but rather a technique for physical rejuvenation, mental relaxation, spiritual growth, and overall wellness. According to yogic thought, unregulated stress is the root of most physical and mental ailments today. The secret of Yoga Nidra (and to better health) lies in its ability to relieve tension and stress at its root and restore a balanced state of mind and a deeply rested body.

Yoga Nidra cultivates profound quiet, deep relaxation, and inner stillness. This practice has many benefits on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels. It is now being used in the treatment of anxiety, PTSD, trauma, depression, and more.

Physical Benefits include:

  • Stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system response in the body (rest & digest)
  • Pain Reduction
  • Deep Rest (it is said that 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is the equivalent of 3-4 hours of sleep)

Decreases:

  • Stress response
  • Blood pressure levels for those with high blood pressure
  • Blood glucose levels for those with elevated blood glucose levels
  • The release of stress hormones
  • Inflammation
  • Heart rate

Improves:

  • Digestion and assimilation of food
  • Elimination of wastes from the body
  • Circulation
  • Stabilizes mood

Mental / Emotional Benefits:

  • Cultivates a sense of wellness and ease
  • Can bring to conscious realization suppressed thoughts, emotions, desires, fears, etc
  • May aid in the release of long-held fears, anger, negative emotions, etc
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Can reduce symptoms of PTSD

Spiritual Benefits:

  • May bring to light profound spiritual insights
  • Release deep impressions in the unconscious mind
  • The release of karmas as samskaras is the driving force behind karmas
  • Can lead to profound inner peace and spiritual liberation

Uniting Past, Present, and Future

At Self-Care Center, we find significance in this quote by B.K.S. Iyengar: “Your body exists in the past and your mind in the future. In yoga, they come together in the present.”

We find such value in emotional health.  On account of this, we have chosen to provide Yoga Nidra Meditation for our yoga offerings, which is a deeply healing guided visualization.

Discover the power of this synthesis with a relaxing, restorative yoga nidra session and find greater emotional strength, energy, and support to face your daily challenges.
